A Letter to Our Customers
When we launched our first store in 2012, we had a vision for a new kind of shopping experience. Our goal was to create a store where shoppers could find amazing deals on products that they really wanted.
We wanted to make shopping like a treasure hunt. At any moment, shoppers could come across big ticket products and they’d never pay more than $5 per item. We wanted to make shopping fun and exciting again.
Our Early Days
We got our start in the retail business by selling liquidated merchandise online. We sourced products from big box stores, like Walmart and Target, who needed to sell tons of extra store merchandise quickly and cheaply in order to make space for new products.
As online fees and shipping costs increased, though, we knew we had to change the business so we could keep offering amazing deals to our customers. So in 2013 we launched our first retail location in Lebanon, TN called Deal Depot.
The store gave us space to stock more products and buy in larger quantities, which let us offer even better deals to our customers than when we were selling online.
But sorting through inventory to price items one-by-one was time-consuming and costly. It was so costly that we couldn’t give the kind of discounts we wanted to give our customers and still keep the doors open.
So we reinvented retail by setting a flat price for every single product we carried. Everything would only be $5 or less!
Eliminating the time-consuming process of pricing individual items let us cut costs immensely and allowed us to give our customers the absolute best discounts possible.
We knew we were on to something when we saw how much our customers loved it. From that day on we changed our name to Gimme A $5!
As Gimme A $5 grew in popularity, customers started asking for new locations to open across Tennessee and Kentucky. So we began expanding to meet the demand.
To supply these additional stores, Gimme A $5 sources products in even larger quantities. This has allowed us to keep offering customers a huge variety of merchandise at the same incredibly low pricing system.
Gimme A $5 continues to become more popular because of its unique, exciting shopping experience. We constantly receive requests to open stores in new areas, and our goal is to keep expanding to make our customers happy.

Each year we give back to our communities through an event we created called Give One, Get One.
We work with corporate and non-profit partners to donate toys to thousands of children in Middle Tennessee so they can have a Christmas present for themselves and a Christmas present to give to a friend or loved one.
